FAQ

Arrow

When should I stop eating or drinking before surgery?

If your procedure involves sedation, you’ll typically need to stop eating and drinking after midnight the night before surgery (or as directed by our team). However, if you are only receiving nitrous oxide or local anesthesia, you may eat as usual and are free to drive yourself. Our team will confirm which guidelines apply to your specific treatment.

Do I need someone to drive me home?

If you’re undergoing a procedure with sedation, you must have a responsible adult to drive you home and stay with you for at least the first 24 hours. However, if you’re only receiving nitrous oxide or local anesthesia, you may drive on your own. If you’re unsure, please text or call us for clarification.

Which medications should I take or avoid?

Most prescriptions can be continued as normal, but there are exceptions. Our Innova Care team will give you personalized instructions before surgery. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to text (preferred) or call us for guidance.

What can I expect on the day of surgery?

Please arrive on time or early so you can be comfortably prepped and ready for your procedure. You’ll have a chance to review final treatment plan with our team and ask any last-minute questions. Being punctual helps ensure everything runs smoothly and sets you up for a successful experience.

How do I manage pain or discomfort after surgery?

Most post-operative discomfort can be managed with over-the-counter medications like ibuprofen or acetaminophen. We’ll let you know which options are best for your situation and provide instructions on how to use them safely. If your pain feels intense or abnormal, reach out to us immediately.

When can I return to work or normal activities?

Recovery times vary depending on the procedure and your overall health. We’ll give you specific guidelines on when you can resume activities such as driving, exercising, and going to work. Following these instructions is key to a smooth and timely recovery.

Who do I contact if I have questions or concerns after surgery?

We’ll provide you with after-hours contact details and the best ways to reach us if any issues or urgent questions arise. Please do not hesitate to text or call our office if you have concerns about your recovery. Your comfort and safety are our priority.
